Was a great bluebird day for catskiing... 4 days after the last snowfall... first time into their alpine territory this season... all shaping up for a great day on the slopes. Pickup was at 715 in the village, half hour ride out to their 'lodge" south of whistler, then we loaded up onto the cat with our group for the trip out to their tenure. First of all we were on their "Cypress" terrain which is their alpine terrain. after a quick safety lesson in using a avalanche transceiver we were on our way up.... first few runs the snow was decent.... soft but not noticeably deep, but after that it became more variable with pockets of deeper stuff and areas which had obviously seen some melting with the previous days inversion. a bit dissapointing when u expect thigh deep hero snow but all in all a good experience... riding up in the cat on the way to where we were going to go riding was awesome, just seeing the terrain open up in front of you, u realize the potential of this place on a good snow day. the tree skiing is amazing, nice and spread out.. nothing too tight and it opens up in a lot of places too and lots of little bumps, logs etc to bounce off of. id love to come back on a more epic day..... make sure u get a fast group... we ended up doing 10 runs... beating the cat down to the bottom almost every runs.... not a bad way to spend a day at all....pat
